Does Nutrisystem Diet Work? My Review – My Story

3123 Nutrisystem Consumer Reviews and Complaints

Lose Weight With Morning Exercise
How did you do it? I wanted to get back to the woman my husband fell in love with. They offer a wide range of plans for pretty much anyone needing to lose weight, including diabetics , vegetarians, and seniors. The food Nutrisystem offers is also excellent. The meats in the shelf items are conveniently packed in a vacuum sealed wrap but were tender and taste like they are right out of the deli. Today my wife came home with a cookie for my son she bought at Starbucks.

I just know that I have had 3 children and my stomach was not this large, round, or hard when I was 9 months pregnant. I am beyond miserable. Sorry, I feel your pain. I've never had so many health issues within the past 6 years since put on levothyroxin.

I am on mcgs. I just decided in July to go off all my meds and my Bp has never been better, my heart rate has normalized an with the aid of Gowing off wheat and dairy and maintaining exercise, I have lost 18 lbs in 2 months.

I have been into nutrition for many years, good stuff not the cheap stuff and I am feeling better. After going to my endocrinologist for the last time might add, he told me he could help my severe sweating problem and my extreme heat intolerance.

He suggested gastric bypass. He said my T4 was perfect and there was nothing he could for me, was sorry I felt so loisy, and exited the appointment. I was so depressed, another side effect I cried for 3 weeks. I was diagnosed with pituitary hypothyroidism so I will have to see what will happen. I am banned from getting a new endocrinologist in the Froedtert system. I too am unhappy with this med. I've gained 30 lbs since surgery. Surgery was I'm still hopeful that I'll get better but I got to admit I'm miserable.

If the med isn't causing me to itch it's making my musles weak I sometimes feels like a invalid. Still under the doctor and hoping she doesn't give up on me.

Before that, I was the same weight, give or take a couple pounds, for almost a decade. I am 31, so at first I thought it was just hitting that 30's wall of being harder to lose weight. I look like I am in my second trimester of being pregnant!!! None of my clothes fit. After reading this, I am thinking about stopping my medication for awhile to see what happens. When I started, my levels were over 5, but my recent lab results stated I am a 2. What happens when I stop the meds?

Is it safe to do? What other things could I be supplementing with in order to keep my levels where they need to be? Thanks for all your help! My story is exactly the same. I'm 31 and have been taking Levo for years. Now my clothes don't fit, my belly fat is increasing, and the scale is going up no matter how hard I try. I workout at least 5 days a week and eat healthy. I am the complete opposite to all these posts.

I was diagnosed 2yrs ago with hypothyroidism after carbon monoxide poisoning. I take 75mcg of Thyroxin and I put about 2lbs on but have now lost well over a stone in weight. I eat what I like but have lost my appetite. I've put it down to age 64yrs. I'm beginning to wonder if my thyroid function has returned to normal or gone to hyperthyroid. Anyone with similar problem?? Hi I have experienced the same thing, I have only been on the drug for 5 months and I'm gaining weight when before I always struggled to gain any, it's also messed my period up and was stopping me getting pregnant!

I stopped my meds 2 days ago after discussion with my doctor as my levels weren't too bad to begin with, but I have to be tested again in 6 months x. I am worried what will happened if I stop. I ended up feeling crap to be honest, I stayed offfor 3 weeks but my levels dropped quite bad now I'm on. Horrible drug, I hope you manage to get yours sorted x.

I started Levothyroxine in April last year, just abt 1 year ago, but since October I feel that there is something wrong going on with my metabolism. I am so frustrated how this drugs in making me feel that I will probably drop it and try a chinese healer. I just about had enough of this crappy garbage pretending to be a medicine. Three weeks on levothyroxine and I've gained 3 pounds. On a strict cal. I had been losing weight slowly and steadily up til now.

Has anyone had success losing weight after stopping levothyroxine? I took Synthroid and Cytomel for about 5 weeks and gained about 15 pounds. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes, particularly pants and jeans. Even my underwear didn't fit!!

I'm usually a medium and XL barely fit. I also was so bloated and looked pregnant. With my doctor's approval, I've now weaned off the meds. It's only been about a week and I'm feeling better and lighter.

I'm really hoping to lose this weight as quickly as it came on. There is hope of weight loss. You dont have to starve yourself just cut back on sugar and carbs. I exercise but always have. I stopped my meds in March. Check my post and read my progress. I stopped meds about a week ago. How long did it take you to notice that stopping meds was working? I'm on a clean diet and exercise regularly.

I'm not looking for a quick fix but would like to know when I might start to feel like the meds are out of my system. In June I opted to have my thyroid taken out due to Graves disease. About a week afterward I started taking levothyroxine. In 5 months I have gained about 80 lbs, my cholesterol has risen about 30 points it was at which is amazing , and I am always cold unless it gets to be about 75 which is comfortable.

My dr has risen the dose, but I have not picked up the prescription. I know its impossible, but Im half tempted to have the dr replace my thyroid. Yes, I was overweight but I was steady, my mood was constant, and I was comfortable. This medicine is completely horrible. There has to be a better treatment out there because I simply cannot stand to continue to pack on the pounds.

Its gotten so bad that my back cant support me anymore and at being 31 I have to walk with a walker, I have to use the auto buggies at the store, and use a shower chair because after only 5 minutes of standing Im in horrible pain. I only eat once a day I know, not good for me , and even that meal is very small. Any body have any suggestions? I have gained around 30 lbs since starting mcg.

I feel hungry all the time but stick to calories a day and exercise regularly. I'm so incredibly frustrated! This medication is a joke! My stomach is enlarged, as well. Has anyone switched meds, with success? Local doc seemed unconcerned -about this and other symptoms. My physician told me that levo is the same as any of the other thyroid meds. I didn't believe her so I asked my pharmacist and he confirmed it.

My Dr told me it was my age causing me to gain weight. Before I started taking this i weighed my weight climbed to I am now It's slow but I am getting there. I have been on levo 50 mcg since July. All I know is that my clothes don't fit, I eat pretty healthy, and yet the scale won't budge!!! I lost some hair in the fall and hoping its growing back, I'm wondering if I need to be on this at all, I was boderline low thyroid and he immediately put me on the levo. I am thinking just going off and seeing what will happen Not seeing an update from you makes me lose hope.

Stopped meds in December I was diagnosed with Hashimotos and given levothyroxine cause my tsh was high. All other was in range. I had a pair of pants that I tried on in sept which didn't fit.

I didn't want to weigh myself. In November upon request my endo changed my med to armour. I tried the pants on yesterday and got them on. Not sure how much I lost but definitely did since changing meds.

I'll never go on levo again. I'll take nothing if armour isn't available. Still looking for answers? Try searching for what you seek or ask your own question. Sign In or Register.

At a cookout it would be a burger or chicken with no bread, and a tossed salad or veggie. You CAN do it. You just have to order carefully. I wish you luck. You can do, I know you can. It is so nice to read a positive article about Nutrisystem. You are so right about your body becoming used to the smaller portions.

Like anything, your body goes through an adjustment period, but after a few days, it is quite easy. With frequent snacks between meals, as well as plenty of fluids, you are eating pretty much whenever you feel hungry.

Hi, thanks for the great review! Thanks for the nice comment: Excited to hear how Nutrisystem goes for you — let us know! Hi Ellen — You definitely need to talk with your doctor before trying Nutrisystem or any weight loss plan with your health issues, but they do offer a plan for people with diabetes.

I would recommend checking out their site to learn more about the different plans they offer. They also offer snacks and shakes as options over the course of the day, so that helps with the extra cravings too. Hope that helps, and best of luck with your weight loss journey! Someone in my Myspace group shared this website with us so I came to give it a look. Exceptional blog and brilliant design and style.

Thanks for the kind words and for visiting the site — let me know your Twitter handle so I can return the favor!

Those first 2 weeks i dropped 13 lbs, but that third week i lost maybe 1 lb. I was only eating the provided meals the first two weeks usually around only calories per day obviously that was unhealthy, so i added in a few snacks to put me right around calories per day. But unfortunately that has resulted in minimal weight loss. Did you have plateaus like this? And how did you over come these stalls? I did just purchase an elliptical and also a stationary bike, but only on day 2 with those.

Your review was wonderful and very well written, so thank you! Hi Julie- Thank you so much for sharing your story, and way to go for making it through your first month! I think the calorie restriction is the hardest part about Nutrisystem, and why now I typically only do the diet for a month or two and then really focus on just eating right and getting enough exercise after that. For me, the approach after Nutrisystem has been intermittent fasting IF. That said, I have had a lot of success with it, and find that I can maintain a healthy weight for long stretches of time when using it.

I started with the turbo charge and continued now for almost 3 weeks. I have only lost 3 lbs. When I emailed a counselor they said that was normal and I was doing well. Big hope very disappointed.

In any case, hope the rest of your month goes well, and best of luck moving forward. I just started Nutrisystem.

I always lost weight on the low carb diet when I was younger. But the fat intake was not good. Just to avoid all the carbs… Did you or anyone else have a issue with how many carbs are in each meal? Is this ok lol… Please someone assure me all the carbs are ok! Thanks for visting, and best of luck with your first month! Thanks for the excellent review and videos. Excited to see what kind of progress I can make.

Hi Krystal — thanks for visiting the site, and taking the time to read my review and watch the videos. Always happy to hear that it helped! Thanks for the great info and for sharing your story! Thanks for the kind words, June! Congrats on taking the first step and best of luck with Nutrisystem — hope it goes well! I mastered more new things on this fat reduction issue. An enormous reduction in junk food, sugary foods, fried foods, sugary foods, beef, and white flour products may perhaps be necessary.

Holding wastes unwanted organisms, and wastes may prevent ambitions for fat-loss. While specific drugs for the short term solve the situation, the unpleasant side effects are certainly not worth it, plus they never present more than a short-term solution.

Many thanks sharing your thinking on this weblog. Thanks for the input Saul. Have you ever considered creating an ebook or guest authoring about Nutrisystem on other sites? I know my readers would appreciate your work. If you are even remotely interested, feel free to send me an email. Hi Lance — I actually do have an eBook in the works, so stay tuned for that! I just wanted to say that this post is awesome, well written and lots of useful Nutrisystem info. Looking forward to my first shipment.

Hi Corburt — Thanks for the kind words, and best of luck with your first month — hope it goes well! I just wanted to offer you a huge thumbs up for the great information you have right here on this post. I will be returning to your site for more soon! This blog looks exactly like my old one! Great choice of colors! Really inspired by your story — thanks for sharing!

I am planning to start Nutrisystem after the New Year. Hi Erin — Thanks so much for the positive feedback. The first time I ever used Nutrisytem, which was many years ago at this point, I think I was one it for 4 months.

I had a lot more weight to lose then; now when I sign up, I usually use it for a month, maybe two at the most. To lock in the auto delivery deal, you have to commit to two months, so if you hit your weight loss goals after month 1, I recommend switching your order to just the Turbo Shakes — that will ensure you lock in the most savings, and also helps to keep you on track once you start transitioning off the program. As I have said before, you have to be committed to the program to get results, but as long as you follow their plan you will lose weight!

Anyways, best of luck and please let us know how it goes: Thanks for sharing your story. Drinking over ounces and eating tons of leafy greens.

I did NS about 4 years ago lost almost This past July was told my chloerstral and blood pressure was too high for 28 year old. So black Friday I ordered when prices decreased. Hi Amanda — Thanks for visiting and reading my story. Hope it goes as well this time around. Thanks for sharing your superb review. You have a lot of good info here. I am looking for a diet to try just after the new year, and this might be the one. Either way, appreciate all of the details you shared.

Thanks, just what I was looking for. I have about 20 pounds to lose — is this doable in a month or two? Hi Sam — Thanks for the positive feedback. Losing 20 pounds is definitely doable with Nutrisystem, but I would budget at least two months.

I signed up for Nutrisystem this week, and I am really hoping that I have the same results. I think my first shipment should arrive just before Christmas, so think I will get started right after the holiday. Thanks so much for the review — definitely gives me hope! Hi Kris — congrats on signing up — while results will vary for everyone, I truly believe that you will lose a lot of weight if you follow the program — so stick with it, and let us know how it goes.

They try to rip you off when quit their auto delivery program. Very very unpleasant people to deal with. They shipped me stuff 3 days after I had already cancelled and had a confirmation number stating I cancelled. They refused to turn the shipment around or to take it back and are trying to create some kind of lie that I created a 2nd account in November and they only cancelled one account.

The only thing I did in November was update my credit card expiration date which I regret. If I guaranteed no more shipments are coming to my name or my address that should be the end of the story, not with them! I am fighting them through my credit card company but please be aware of whatever traps they have in store for any of you.

Hi Troy — Sorry to hear that that was your experience. It was actually a customer service rep who told me I could switch from the meal delivery to just the Turbo Shakes after my first month on the program to lock in the auto-delivery savings without having to commit to another month of food. In any case, I hope you are able to get things resolved!

I started the program today, January 1st. My resolution is to feel better about myself, but do it in a healthy way that had structure. How much and when I should be eating vegetables, and ideas on what to eat if you have to attend a social function or business based meeting that involves food.

Thanks for posting a well written, and information overview of this program. I have three questions and maybe one is a question for a NS counselor… 1. Or can tomatoes, cukes, etc. Also, plain or with some sort of dressing? How many turbo shakes can you have per week… and when can they be consumed? Thanks in advance …. Hi Tami — Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! I always add extra veggies to my greens and have found the only thing you really need to watch out for is the salad dressing.

But for me, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. I usually have my TurboShake midday — around 2: You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this information!

Buy food to supplement 2 of their meals and one snack every day. Oh and supply the food for 2 flex meals each week. You will save a good amount of money. Pus the food will taste better. I still think Nutrisystem is fairly priced, and is an excellent resource for people looking to lose weight quickly. You will get results when following their plan, which is why it can be a great option for a lot of people who have a significant amount of weight to lose.

For me, it has been a good way to reset after weight gain, and then I can go back to focusing on eating healthy and preparing meals on my own, sort of like you plan to do. In any case, hope your month went well, and best of luck with your weight loss journey. You have made some good points, and the pricing info is well-detailed. Thanks Carla, happy to hear you found the information useful — if you decide to try Nutrisystem, I hope it goes well!

Thanks for the pricing info. Has anyone else been able to do this? Hi Cindy — Thanks for visiting, and happy to hear the pricing info helped! I think 5 to 10 pounds is totally doable, especially if you commit to the full 2 months!

Remember, Nutrisystem does offer counselors to help keep you on track, and as long as you stick to the program, you should see a significant amount of weight loss during that time period! That has definitely been a key to success for me over the years.

In any case, best of luck — let us know how it goes! I was pretty pleased to find this web site and your cost breakdown is very detailed. Thanks for all of the information — it makes my decision a lot easier. Hopefully can report back with some great results. Thanks for all of the information. Makes my decision a lot easier knowing exactly what things are going to cost! Need to loose about 59 pounds. Thank you for the sensible critique and cost info. Mostly fish and vegetables.

Sometimes chicken or turkey but not all the time! Is there a plan to start me on this regiment? Can you send some ideas and pricing plans? I tried turbo shakes with other companies and they gave me lots of gas…lol Thanks if this gets to you. Hi Jim — sorry, I missed this comment at the time you posted it. I would also recommend looking at BistroMD https: Diet-to-Go has some really good plans that sound like they could work for you.

Both are going to be a bit more pricey than Nutrisystem, but sound like they could be a better fit. My husband and I are considering NS. We also do not want to purchase ANY other food if possible. Hi Lynn — I replied to Ray with a couple of other options BistroMD and Diet-to-Go …I would recommend checking out those reviews if you think they may be something that would work for you and your husband.

There are definitely some ways to keep the costs down though. You will definitely want to incorporate fresh produce, though, as I think you would get tired of only eating their pre-made meals, and you will want to mix in a salad or something on most days just to get the health benefits from the fresh produce if nothing else. Hi Pete — the frozen food is an additional charge, but can be included in your 4-week order or as an ala carte item. Many are on a fixed income and I am one of them … an older woman, a widow, and on a very fixed income.

With the profit your company surely must realize, might you consider offering your program free to a few deserving people men and women who would benefit from it as well? Just something you might consider … it just might be of benefit to your company in another way … good will! The Costco purchased gift cards can definitely be used and there is a space at checkout to put them in.

You will just have to make sure you put the gift card in a few days before the processing date for additional deliveries. I just went through this whole process and received my order today. Thanks for the very thorough cost information.
